Basketball Game Preview: Legend Titans vs. ThunderRidge Grizzlies

The Legend Titans will square off against the ThunderRidge Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

ThunderRidge will be up against a hot Legend squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Legend blew past Mountain Vista, posting a 78-36 victory. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 33rd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Legend had a senior duo take command as Mason Borcherding dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 boards and Maley Wilhelm dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Maile Starns, who posted ten points.

Legend smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, ThunderRidge was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Ponderosa 48-20.

Legend's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for ThunderRidge, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-9.

Legend strolled past ThunderRidge in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a score of 56-41. Will Legend repeat their success, or does ThunderRidge have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
