Monroeville is a perfect 10-0 against South Central since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Wednesday.
Monroeville barely beat Carey the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles put the hurt on the Blue Devils with a sharp 11-2 win on Thursday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by seven runs or more this season.
Veanna Helmstetter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 22 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Taryn Tyler was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Avery Rosser was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Monroeville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, South Central got themselves on the board against Chippewa on Saturday, but Chippewa never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Chipps. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Trojans considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Viola Culler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Culler was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, South Central got a massive performance out of Ember Phillips, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Phillips has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mayson Middaugh, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Monroeville is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for South Central, their win bumped their record up to 9-17.
South Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Monroeville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for South Central, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Monroeville keep running through batters, or will the Trojans buck the trend?
Monroeville took their victory against South Central in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 14-3 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
