Volleyball Recap: Yaretzi Barraza Key Part of Team Effort in Warriors Win

There's no place like home for Montbello, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They put the hurt on the DMLK Panthers with a sharp 3-0 victory on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 back in September.

While Montbello won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-22, 25-16.

Montbello got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Yaretzi Barraza out in front who had four aces and two blocks. Barraza is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now had two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Anna Pinon, who had six aces.

They weren't the only good servers: Montbello was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 24 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Montbello's victory ended a three-match drought at home and bumped them up to 5-6. As for DMLK, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Montbello will challenge rival Denver West at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, DMLK is set to face off against their familiar foe Lincoln at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
