Basketball Preview: East Stroudsburg South Cavaliers vs. Liberty Hurricanes
The East Stroudsburg South Cavaliers will play host again and welcome the Liberty Hurricanes, where tip off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Thursday, East Stroudsburg South came up short against the Timberwolves and fell 73-64. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (56), East Stroudsburg South still had to take the loss.
Meanwhile, Liberty escaped with a win on Tuesday against the Rovers by the margin of a single free throw, 59-58. Given Liberty's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Rovers are ranked 366th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
East Stroudsburg South has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Liberty, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
East Stroudsburg South couldn't quite finish off the Hurricanes in their previous meeting back in January of 2020 and fell 48-46. Can East Stroudsburg South avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
