Baseball Recap: Marshwood Starts Season with Win Against Portland

Marshwood had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Portland Bulldogs on Friday as they made off with a 15-1 victory. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Charlie Hudson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Hudson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Gus Alexander looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Marshwood got a massive performance out of Brady Isabelle, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Isabelle is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Silas Reimels was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Marshwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Portland only posted an OBP of .167.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Marshwood will face off against rival Massabesic at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Portland is set to challenge their familiar foe Cheverus at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
