It's playoff time, and Gar-Field had no trouble coming through when it counted. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Red Wolves who were credited with the victory on Monday. The Gar-Field Red Wolves got it done in the shootout by posting eight goals to the Gainesville Cardinals's seven. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Gar-Field's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Gainesville are ranked 96th).

Gar-Field pushed their record up to 16-2-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matchups. As for Gainesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

Coming up, Gar-Field will look to defend their home pitch on Thursday against Battlefield at 6:00 p.m. Gainesville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
