Gardner-Edgerton had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the De Soto Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trailblazers have posted since October 15, 2024.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Gardner-Edgerton who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 18-25, 25-15.

Hayden Meats paced Gardner-Edgerton's offense, picking up 15 kills. Meats got some help from Emma Arel and her 15 assists. Meats also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Tori Thompson, each putting up two.

Despite the defeat, De Soto had strong showings from Peyton Gab, who had 14 assists and six digs, and Isabel Galmarini, who had nine digs and three assists.

Gardner-Edgerton's victory bumped their record up to 22-8. As for De Soto, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 22-11 record this season.

Gardner-Edgerton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 loss against Hayden on the 11th. As for De Soto, they will square off against Lee's Summit at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
