Recap: Liberty Chargers vs. Discovery Spartans
The Liberty Chargers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Discovery 81-39. Liberty was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-19.
Liberty's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lamar Lee, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Lawrence Kelley who scored 11 points. Lee is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season.
Liberty has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Discovery, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Liberty will be playing in front of their home fans against Poinciana at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Poinciana knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Liberty likes a good challenge. As for Discovery, they will head out on the road to challenge Santa Fe Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Santa Fe Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
