Baseball Recap: Monte Vista Comes Up Short

Monte Vista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 22-3 to the De La Salle Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-0 last Wednesday.

Mathew Sardelich was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double. Tony Keeling also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Monte Vista's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for De La Salle, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-2.

Coming up, Monte Vista will square off against Encinal at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jets have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for De La Salle, they will be playing at home against Jesuit at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
