Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Kyra Blake and Sydney Moore Lead Bandera to Victory

In Saturday's Canine Competition, Bandera came out on top. They took their contest against the Holmes Huskies on Saturday 2-0. That's more bragging rights for the BULLDOGS, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-16.

Leading Bandera to victory were Sydney Moore and Kyra Blake. Moore had seven kills, five aces, and three digs, while Blake had eight digs and three aces. Moore has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 14 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolbie Lawlis, who had nine kills and three digs.

They weren't the only good server: Bandera was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. They are a perfect 5-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

Despite the loss, Holmes still got an impressive performance from Jaylee Ramirez, who had seven aces and four digs. Yvonne Poblano was another key player, getting 11 digs and three assists.

The win made it two in a row for Bandera and bumps their season record up to 8-9. As for Holmes, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Bandera didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Edison on the 23rd. As for Holmes, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Taft at 5:30 p.m.
