Football Recap: Jackson Gary Key Part of Team Effort in Patriots Win

Calumet Christian never got on the board in their matchup last Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Illinois C on Saturday. They came out on top against the Crusaders by a score of 40-28. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won seven in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Calumet Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jackson Gary, who rushed for 127 yards and two scores on only 15 carries, and also threw for 173 yards and a pair of TDs. That's the most rushing yards Gary has posted since back in September of 2024. Another rusher making a difference was Ezra Williams, who rushed for 100 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Calumet Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 222 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Calumet Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Kody Foutz, Williams, Michael Clayton, and Asa Bland picked up one apiece. Foutz got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Calumet Christian's record is now 2-4. As for Illinois C, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-4.

Calumet Christian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 53-28 loss against Osceola Grace Eagles on the 11th. As for Illinois C, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Non Varsity Opponent on the 16th.
