Basketball Game Preview: Timberline Blazers vs. Capital Cougars

Timberline and Capital are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Timberline Blazers will venture away from home to challenge the Capital Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Timberline is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

On Wednesday, Timberline came up short against Peninsula and fell 48-38. While losing is never fun, the Blazers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while the Seahawks are ranked 106th).

Meanwhile, Capital played a tough game on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by River Ridge and fell 69-34. The Cougars were down 55-26 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Timberline will have to keep a close watch on Mia Nielsen and Kail'Ah Allen, a pair of players who had a big impact on Capital's prior game. Nielsen posted 21 points and eight steals, while Allen scored five points and 12 boards. Those eight steals gave Nielsen a new career-high.

Capital has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Timberline, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.

Timberline came up short against Capital in their previous meeting on January 8th, falling 46-41. Can Timberline avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
