Basketball Recap: Riverside Takes a Loss

Riverside was the 74-70 winner over Fleming Island when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Riverside Generals were beaten by the Fleming Island Golden Eagles 74-47 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Generals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 340th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 92nd).

Fleming Island found their leader in sophomore Carson Crawford, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Crawford has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexander Brown, who posted 11 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Riverside and nudges their season record down to 4-6. As for Fleming Island, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Riverside won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Bolles at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fleming Island, they and Creekside will face off at 8:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Fleming Island is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.9 points per game this season.
