Softball Preview: Arroyo Dons vs. Alameda Hornets

Arroyo is 2-8 against Alameda since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Arroyo Dons will head out on the road to square off against the Alameda Hornets at 4:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Wednesday, it was a hard-fought game, but Arroyo had to settle for a 5-3 loss against Castro Valley. Arroyo has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sadie Fernandez was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Fernandez has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Fernandez was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Ariana Rocha made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Arroyo now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Alameda, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-3.
