Football Recap: Lane Tech Beats King for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Lane Tech waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the King Jaguars get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The seven-point effort marked the Champions' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Lane Tech's defense and their five sacks. Kanye Williams was especially locked on to King's QB and sacked him 2.5 times. Those 2.5 sacks set a new season-high mark for Williams.

Lane Tech's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for King, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-4.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Lane Tech will welcome Perspectives Leadership/IIT/Joslin/Tech at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' defense has only allowed 14.5 points per game this season, so the Champions' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for King, they will head out on the road to square off against Agricultural Science at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Jaguars 14.8, the Cyclones 4.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
