Baseball Recap: Northside Christian's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

Northside Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Berkeley Prep on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 8-5 to the Buccaneers. The Mustangs' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Northside Christian got a good showing from Merric Hunt, who struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts Hunt has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Luke Anderson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Northside Christian's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Berkeley Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Northside Christian will face off against St. Petersburg Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Berkeley Prep, they will host Carrollwood Day at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Berkeley Prep 2.3, Carrollwood Day 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
