Softball Recap: Berlin Brothersvalley Falls Short of Cambridge Springs in the Playoffs

Berlin Brothersvalley and Cambridge Springs squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Berlin Brothersvalley had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Devils by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mountaineers have suffered since March 25, 2024.

Sam Walker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Berlin Brothersvalley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Haylee Speicher, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
