Basketball Recap: Pleasure Ridge Park Panthers vs. Holy Cross Cougars

The Pleasure Ridge Park Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Holy Cross by a score of 59-57. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (55), Pleasure Ridge Park still had to take the loss.

Holy Cross had a senior duo take command as Michael Loftis scored 20 points along with six assists and two steals and Jacob Hand dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Loftis continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Jenkins, who scored nine points.

Pleasure Ridge Park's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Holy Cross, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pleasure Ridge Park won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Portland Christian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Holy Cross, they will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
