Basketball Recap: Durand Takes a Loss

Durand was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by the Dakota Indians 45-13. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 590th, while the Indians are ranked 291st).

Caitlind Maines was Durand's leading scorer, having posted six points. Aurora Hilton held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

Leading Dakota to victory were Makenna Stuckey and Hailey Kerchner. Stuckey posted ten points and four steals, while Kerchner put up 17 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Kerchner has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Finley Banks, who earned six points and six boards.

Durand's defeat dropped their record down to 8-20. As for Dakota, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-10.

Durand wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 59-27 loss against Lena-Winslow on the 13th. As for Dakota, they have also already played their next game, a 49-37 defeat against Orangeville on the 13th.
