Soccer Game Preview: Mt. Carmel vs. Valley Center

The Mt. Carmel Sundevils will head out to take on the Valley Center Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, Mt. Carmel didn't have quite enough to beat Escondido and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Sundevils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 439th, while the Cougars are ranked 111th).

Mt. Carmel's goal came courtesy of Arshit Singh, who's now up to five this season.

Meanwhile, Valley Center has been on a difficult stretch since their win on January 9. They and Ramona finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw on Tuesday.

Mt. Carmel's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1-2 and their overall record down to 5-8-4. Valley Center's draw gives them a new season record of 2-8-5.

Mt. Carmel was able to grind out a solid win over Valley Center in their previous matchup back in January, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mt. Carmel since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
