Basketball Recap: Putnam County Takes a Loss

Putnam County came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 59-36 to the Mendota Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 731st, while the Trojans are ranked 224th).

Putnam County's defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-28. As for Mendota, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-8.

Putnam County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mendota, they will welcome Aurora Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Mendota is facing Aurora Central Catholic at the right time seeing as Aurora Central Catholic is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
