Preview: Kinsley Coyotes vs. Victoria Knights
Kinsley is 0-7 against Victoria since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Kinsley Coyotes will head out on the road to square off against the Victoria Knights at 7:00 p.m. Kinsley has now lost 11 straight, leaving the team is hunting for their first win since December 15.
Last Friday, Kinsley suffered a tough 54-34 defeat at the hands of Ellinwood. While losing is never fun, Kinsley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 341st, while Ellinwood is ranked 152nd).
Meanwhile, Victoria pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of St. John by a score of 58-56. Victoria has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Seth Schwien, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. William Scherrer was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five assists and four steals.
Kinsley dropped their record down to 1-16 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Victoria, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
Kinsley couldn't quite finish off Victoria in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 and fell 48-46. Thankfully for Kinsley, Leo Schmeidler (who scored 13 points along with four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
