Basketball Game Preview: LeRoy Panthers vs. Heyworth Hornets

The LeRoy Panthers will square off against the Heyworth Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Monday, LeRoy ended up a good deal behind Tri-Valley and lost 57-43. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Heyworth took a blow against Tremont on Monday, falling 69-36. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 337th, while the Turks are ranked 115th).

LeRoy's defeat dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Heyworth, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-14 record this season.

LeRoy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Heyworth when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 32-27 win. Will LeRoy repeat their success, or does Heyworth have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
