Basketball Game Preview: Keys Gate Knights vs. Sunset Knights

The Keys Gate Knights will take on the Sunset Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sunset took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Keys Gate, who comes in off a win.

Last Monday, Keys Gate made easy work of Forest Hill and carried off a 62-39 win. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 23 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Terrance Shannon Jr, who went 8 of 19 on his way to 28 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. That's the most assists he has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Matilla, who went 5 for 7 en route to 13 points and five steals.

Meanwhile, Sunset was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Miami, falling 83-62. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Knights have suffered since December 3, 2024.

Keys Gate will need focus on slowing down Jonathan Clarke, one of several Sunset players who made an impact when they last played. He went 8 of 13 on his way to 19 points. Brandon Luis was another key player, going 7 for 14 en route to 15 points.

Sunset's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Keys Gate, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Everything came up roses for Keys Gate against Sunset when the teams last played back in January of 2023, as the squad secured an 83-51 victory. Will Keys Gate repeat their success, or does Sunset have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
