Baseball Recap: Morristown-Hamblen East Comes Up Short

Morristown-Hamblen East extended their losing streak to 12 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 6-25-1 in the process. They fell 5-0 to the Jefferson County Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, with their most recent loss being a 11-1 defeat on April 8th.

As for Jefferson County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-15. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.

For Jefferson County's part, Morristown-Hamblen East's batters probably weren't too happy with Caleb Franklin, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (he gave up zero walks).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sean Young, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Brody Carr was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Morristown-Hamblen East didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-5 victory against Sevier County on the 1st. Jefferson County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
