Baseball Recap: Intermountain Christian's Run of 17 Straight Wins Now Over

After a string of 17 wins, Intermountain Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Draper APA Eagles by a score of 14-13. Lions fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Eagles since Tuesday.

Jonathan Doty was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, David Reist stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last 15 games he's played. Wyatt Furze was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Intermountain Christian's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 15-1 and their overall record down to 17-2. As for Draper APA, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.

While Intermountain Christian had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
