Recap: Midway Vikings vs. Heartland Mustangs
The Midway Vikings scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They walked away with a 51-41 win over Heartland. The victory was some much needed relief for Midway as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
When it comes to explaining why Heartland lost, one person who can't be blamed is Diego Martinez. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Jackson Odom was another key contributor, scoring three points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Midway's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Heartland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.
Midway will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Archie at 7:59 p.m. Heartland won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Miami at 11:30 a.m. on December 28th. Miami will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 572nd, while Heartland is ranked 170th).
