Allen Park barely beat Trenton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Jaguars were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Trojans on Monday. The contest marked the Jaguars' most dominant win of the season so far.
Melody Filipiak made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Filipiak was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kiley Carr, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Riley Sitarski, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Allen Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trenton only posted a batting average of .182.
Meanwhile, Woodhaven faced Carlson in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Warriors fell 8-4 to the Marauders. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mia Taylor made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
Allen Park pushed their record up to 8-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Woodhaven, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.
Allen Park's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Jaguars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Woodhaven, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Allen Park continue to outrun the ball?
