Football Recap: Eight Straight Road Victories for Huntington Beach

Huntington Beach got themselves on the board against Los Alamitos on Wednesday, but Los Alamitos never followed suit. They blew past the Griffins 20-0. Considering the Oilers have won three contests by more than 19 points this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Huntington Beach's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Roxie Shaia, who threw for 284 yards and three TDs while completing 71.1% of her passes. The Oilers' leading receiver Taylor Savage was Shaia's top target yet again, picking up 172 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Huntington Beach's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 27.8 points over those games. As for Los Alamitos, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Huntington Beach and Los Alamitos should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Oilers (ranked 11th) will meet Fountain Valley (ranked 463rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Los Alamitos will square off against Marina at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (179 vs. 383).
