            Basketball Recap: Tohatchi Cougars vs. Wingate Bears        
        
		
        
        
            Tohatchi entered their tilt with Wingate on Friday with eight consecutive wins  but they'll enter their next game with nine. They strolled past the Wingate Bears with  points to spare, taking the game  70-55. Given the Cougars' advantage  in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings  (they are ranked 27th, while the Bears are ranked 86th), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.

 Leading Tohatchi to victory were  Josh Dawes and  Kyle Yazzie.  Dawes  posted 26  points, while  Yazzie  earned 18 points. The  contest was  Dawes' ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was  Elijah Johnson, who  had seven  points.
Tohatchi's win was  their seventh straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 17-2. As for Wingate, they have also been struggling recently as they've  lost three of their last four games,  which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record  this season.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tohatchi will square off against Zuni at 7:00  p.m.  on January 31st. As for Wingate, they will face off against Thoreau at 7:00  p.m.  on Wednesday.
