Baseball Game Preview: Ripon Tigers vs. Campbellsport Cougars

The Ripon Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the Campbellsport Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Ripon fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against St. Mary Catholic on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Zephyrs by a score of 3-2. The Tigers' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it nine in a row dating back to last season.

Coy DeVries made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Campbellsport got themselves on the board against Oakfield on Thursday, but Oakfield never followed suit. They blew past the Oaks 12-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Kyler Bowe and Brody Nolan did most of the damage at the plate: Bowe scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Nolan scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Jace Goebel was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Ripon's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Campbellsport, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Ripon came up short against Campbellsport in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 6-1. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
