Softball Recap: Lake Catholic Cougars vs. Elyria Catholic Panthers
Lake Catholic extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-6 in the process. They came up short against the Elyria Catholic Panthers, falling 20-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 on April 7th.
As for Elyria Catholic, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 16-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average this season.
For Elyria Catholic's part, Harper Morgan was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Morgan has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Jessica Conner and Allison Bailey did most of the damage at the plate: Conner went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double, while Bailey went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
