Basketball Recap: Jackson-Milton Comes Up Short

Jackson-Milton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Springfield Tigers, falling 59-38. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bluejays this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-34 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Jackson-Milton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Amani Yasin posted 19 points along with eight steals and six assists. Yasin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Gabby Kerr was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Jackson-Milton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Springfield, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-7.

Jackson-Milton and Mineral Ridge will face off at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played. As for Springfield, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against McKinley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
