Basketball Recap: Poteau Pirates vs. Stilwell Indians
The Poteau Pirates lost against the Stilwell Indians back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Poteau was outmatched by the Indians on the road and fell 66-32. Poteau was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-19.
Snowda Watie was her usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with seven assists and four steals for Stilwell. Watie hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Prairie Holmes, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Poteau's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Stilwell, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Poteau will take on the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Stilwell, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Pirates at 3:30 p.m. Locust Grove will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
