Football Recap: Mingo Central Comes Up Short

If Mingo Central was riding high fresh off their 49-14 takedown of Lincoln County last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Miners were outmatched by the Chapmanville Regional Tigers and fell 46-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Miners were not able to get on the board.

Jamere Knuckles threw for 98 yards on 16 of 29 attempts. Terrindez Bryant was his top target, picking up 52 receiving yards.

Chapmanville Regional found their leader in sophomore Dakota Dalton, who rushed for 70 yards and two TDs on only five carries, and also threw for 116 yards and one touchdown. Trey Ward got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mingo Central fell to 8-1. As for Chapmanville Regional, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mingo Central will challenge Doddridge County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Miners will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 31 points in their last four games. As for Chapmanville Regional, they will square off against St. Albans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will be up against the Red Dragons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 48.56 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
