Basketball Recap: Tyrone Beaulieu Jr's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Red Lake over Walker-Hackensack-Akeley

After flying high against Laporte last Friday, Red Lake came back down to earth. The Red Lake Warriors lost 90-67 to the Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Wolves on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 68-57 back in January.

Red Lake lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Tyrone Beaulieu Jr, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 14 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Austin Perkins, who posted 18 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Red Lake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Red Lake now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Walker-Hackensack-Akeley, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Red Lake will face off against Badger/Greenbush-Middle River at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Walker-Hackensack-Akeley, they will head out on the road to challenge Pine River-Backus at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
