Minden piles up the points against Elm Creek

The Minden Whippets scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 61-30 win over Elm Creek on the road. Considering Minden has won three contests by more than 24 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Minden's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Myla Emery, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mattie Kamery, who scored 13 points along with four steals.

Elm Creek's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kendal Cavenee, who scored 12 points along with four steals, and Halle Knapp who scored eight points along with eight rebounds. The match was Cavenee's fifth in a row with at least ten points.

Elm Creek struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Minden posted ten assists.

Minden's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Elm Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Minden will head out on the road to face off against Beatrice at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Beatrice is ranked 12th, while Minden is ranked 15th). Elm Creek will be home for the holidays to greet St. Patrick's at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Patrick's is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
