Volleyball Recap: Lucynda Martir and Valerie Santiago Secure Win for Sports & Medical Sciences Academy

While Sports & Medical Sciences Academy's win against Weaver wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Beavers 3-2. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Beavers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Sports & Medical Sciences Academy had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-28, 22-25, 25-20, 25-14, 15-6.

Leading Sports & Medical Sciences Academy to victory were Valerie Santiago and Lucynda Martir. Santiago had 11 digs and three aces, while Martir had 32 assists and 24 digs. The dominant performance also gave Santiago a new career-high in assists (four).

They weren't the only good servers: Sports & Medical Sciences Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 25 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in 12 consecutive matches.

Sports & Medical Sciences Academy's victory bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Weaver, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
