The Springfield Cougars will face off against the Lower Merion Aces at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Springfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Springfield and Ridley meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Cougars were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Raiders.

Springfield got a great performance from Jack Rae as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Rae has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Danny Meakim, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Owen Keough was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Springfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Lower Merion and Penncrest have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Monday. The Aces had just enough and edged out the Lions 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Aces have posted since March 13th.

Springfield pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Lower Merion, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
