El Segundo had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Friday. Everything went their way against the West Warriors as they made off with an 8-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 two weeks ago.
Not much got past Jacy Lindsay, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep West off the board. Lindsay has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Marilyn McCaverty was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Allie Stevenson, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
El Segundo's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for West, their loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-5.
El Segundo and West should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. El Segundo will take on Long Beach Poly at 4:00 p.m. on Monday up 282 places (11 vs. 293). Meanwhile, West (ranked 30th) will meet Chavez (ranked 583rd) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
