Baseball Recap: Casteel Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Casteel had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 18-run drubbing they dealt Tucson High Magnet School on Friday. Casteel was the clear victor by a 19-1 margin over Tucson High Magnet School. That 18 run margin sets a new team best for the Colts this season.

Logan Reber was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That run was his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Cayden Hokanson looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

Back at the plate, Ryan Harwood was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maxx Kane, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Casteel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.

Casteel's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Tucson High Magnet School, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Casteel didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-2 loss against Red Mountain on the 15th. As for Tucson High Magnet School, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-5 victory against Cherry Creek on the 15th.
