Softball Recap: Stevens Point Comes Up Short

Stevens Point dropped their record down to 16-6 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the D.C. Everest Evergreens by a score of 1-0. Having soared to a lofty 28 runs in the game before, the Panthers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for D.C. Everest, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-0. Their pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three matches.

For D.C. Everest's part, not much got past Addison Kluck, who gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Stevens Point off the board. Kluck has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances.

Stevens Point and D.C. Everest should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Panthers (ranked 11th) will meet Wausau East (ranked 268th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, D.C. Everest will square off against Superior at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (3 vs. 61).
