Basketball Recap: TJ Foster's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ridgeland over Coahulla Creek

Ridgeland was the 66-42 winner over Coahulla Creek when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Ridgeland Panthers fell 65-56 to the Coahulla Creek Colts on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 478th, while the Colts are ranked 108th).

Ridgeland's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was TJ Foster, who went 10 for 22 on his way to 25 points and six rebounds. Foster's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Mitchell, who posted 11 points.

Coahulla Creek had a senior duo take command as Gage Voyles went 8 of 18 on his way to 20 points in addition to seven boards and three steals and Cullen Marti dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Voyles has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Waelyn Baliles, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards.

Ridgeland has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Coahulla Creek, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ridgeland will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Northwest Whitfield at 5:30 p.m. on January 4, 2025. After both having extra time off, Coahulla Creek and North Murray will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 4:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Coahulla Creek is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.7 points per game this season.
