Baseball Game Preview: Dimmitt Bobcats vs. Ropes Eagles

The Dimmitt Bobcats will be taking part in a tournament against the Ropes Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Dimmitt is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.

Dimmitt barely beat Lockney the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Dimmitt came out on top against Lockney on Monday by a score of 13-3 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Longhorns recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Rudy Fuentes made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Fuentes was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaden Carpio, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Dimmitt: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jadrian Herrera, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Ropes didn't have quite enough to beat New Deal on Thursday and fell 12-11.

Ropes has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. Dimmitt's record now sits at 4-2.

Dimmitt might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Ropes in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Dimmitt avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
