Basketball Recap: Landon Myers' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tussey Mountain over West Branch

Tussey Mountain played a tough matchup on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the West Branch Warriors an easy 70-47 win. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Titans of the 79-62 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Several Titans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landon Myers, who went 7 for 10 on his way to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jax Garner, who posted six points.

West Branch's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dylan McGonigal led the charge by putting up 22 points and six steals. Owen Koleno was another key player, posting 23 points and eight rebounds.

Tussey Mountain dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for West Branch, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Tussey Mountain will take on Claysburg-Kimmel in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tussey Mountain is facing Claysburg-Kimmel at the right time seeing as Claysburg-Kimmel is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for West Branch, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 80-56 win against Philipsburg-Osceola on the 18th.
