Softball Recap: Two Rivers Wins Going Away Against Simley

Two Rivers barely beat Simley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 15-4 victory on Tuesday. The Warriors' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Mazzy Stevens was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Kaylee Rall was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Addison Estall also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Two Rivers' win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-3. As for Simley, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Two Rivers will venture away from home to challenge Mahtomedi at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors are facing the Zephyrs at the right time seeing as the Zephyrs are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Simley, they will be playing at home against Tartan at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans will also cruise into their next match with the timing on their side: the Titans will have lost three straight heading into Thursday's contest.
