The Lincoln Lions will take on the Los Altos Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
On Monday, Lincoln got the win against Hill by a conclusive 18-1. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.
Eva Vasquez looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Olivia Diaz was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Lincoln kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Los Altos posted their closest victory since March 27th on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Mountain View.
Chloe Caldbeck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Makayla Mase, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sabrina Neal, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI.
Los Altos has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln, they pushed their record up to 15-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
Los Altos' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lincoln has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .474. It's a different story for Los Altos, though, as they've only averaged .360. Will they be able to contain Lincoln's hitters?
Lincoln couldn't quite finish off Los Altos when the teams last played back in March of 2017 and fell 3-1. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
