Softball Game Preview: Prattville Christian Academy Panthers vs. Saint James Trojans

Prattville Christian Academy has won four straight games at home, while Saint James has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Panthers will welcome the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

It was a proper cat-fight when Prattville Christian Academy challenged T.R. Miller on Saturday. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Tigers 3-1.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Saint James ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Prattville 4-3.

Emily Needham spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lily Stanford and Ava Stanford did most of the damage at the plate: Lily went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Ava went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Ava is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Arden Green, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Saint James is on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 43-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Prattville Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 32-6.
