Baseball Recap: Murray Gets the Win

Murray came out on top against Cottonwood on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Spartans narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Colts 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Spartans have posted since March 16th.

Austin Lunt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Lunt was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Korver Troxel, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

With the win, Murray broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-11. As for Cottonwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-11.

Murray will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Colts: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
