Softball Recap: Valley Regional Extends Winning Streak to Four

Valley Regional waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the East Windsor Panthers with a sharp 17-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Paige Williams was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Valley Regional got a massive performance out of Helen Manco, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Manco a new career-high. Nataly Pavon-Avila was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Valley Regional kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Valley Regional's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for East Windsor, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Coming up, Valley Regional will be playing at home against Bacon Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Windsor, they have already played their next match, a 20-6 defeat against Windham RVT on the 17th.
